Second principle
The capacity to become aware of ourselves, examine our assumptions and choose how we respond.
Awareness as a beginning
Consciousness allows us to notice the conditions shaping our lives, recognise conflicting desires and examine the beliefs we inherit. Reflection is the beginning of responsibility, not its completion.
Experience and interpretation
Experiences of meaning, connection and transcendence matter to those who have them. Their interpretation may differ across traditions. Priesthood Nation should cultivate careful listening alongside intellectual honesty.
Practice
Thoughtful study, dialogue, reflection and service can help people develop attentiveness to themselves and to others. No single exercise should be presented as the universal path for every person.
